We are staying on a jungle farm that is more like a botanical garden/petting zoo. There's such a variety of plants and animals here it's amazing one woman can take care of it all.
All the produce of the farm is organic (meaning no herbicides, pesticides or hormones are used). Remember the issue with our milk with growth hormones?
Here's a picture of me in front of her organic banana section. How many of you have been on a farm? Maybe down south at a relative's? Maybe in PR or DR?
Reply with a comment below (for extra credit) about what it was like to be on a farm. Could you ever see yourself living and working on one. Why or why not? Are farms important to you even though you may never want to live on one?

Being on a farm would be very interesting but also stressful if your not use to living on those conditions. Farm life is more independent, because u have to plant and grow your own food instead of buying it from the grocery store.I personally cant see myself working on a farm, because the work is not easy. You have to patients and skills to work on a farm. Farms are important for many reason. For example, our food grows there, and we get our milk from there, and most of the stuff we buy and sell are made on farms, so yes farms are very important for me and for others.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a farm but I would think it would be a lot of work for someone who is new to in and trying to get adjusted. I would like to experience the farm life. It would require me grow my own food and grown enough to be able to sell and keep my farm going. Also depending on what type of farm it is i can produce milk or eggs. A farm is a very important for humans thats where we get most of our dairys, fruits and vegatables.
ReplyDeleteoh my god mr. el frank your not scared to live their with all those animals and stuff. But anyways they look like they live a hard life but always have food and stuff because they grow plants and stuff. keeps up updated. =)
ReplyDeletei wouldnt know how it is to be on a farm because i never lived on a farm before, but from what i read its a lot of work due to waking up and watering the plants. and having to treat the animals.
ReplyDeleteMr.Elfrank your a brave man for going out there for two weeks and getting uses to there living style over there in coasta rica. idk how you can deal with people touching there hands with your food. Thats tuff for me. I cant picture myself living over there. can wait tell you come back to school. Keep us posted with more updates!
ReplyDeleteI've never been on a farm before, but I would love to visit one day. . I know many crops & plants can grow on farms so yes, farms are important to me. I couldnt see myself living or working on one, because I dont think i would ever have the time to maintain it. I'm very impatient so i know i couldnt keep up with a farm. Many important things grow on farms & the animals are amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt was peaceful being on a farm, not really boring either, there was always something to do, so you would never have to just stand around. I think i can see myself working on a farm, I like working hard (physically) so I can have something to do throughout the day; I'm used to doings things the same way everyday, so it won't be that much different than my regular life, just taking care of crops. Farms are important because The US has maintained it's independence by being able to feed itself and export food as well. Countries that are dependent on importing food are at the mercy of the global commodities market.
ReplyDeleteI have been in a farm before its pretty nice my grandfather owns one in Dominican Republic, i love to see how my grandfather care for the animals and sometimes i even help him give them food and water his plants, but i would not like to live in one.
ReplyDeleteI have been on a farm before, and it it alot of work. You have to make sure animals are healthy, you have to get up in the morning to feed your animals. You have to have the money to make the food for the animals. Living on a farm isn't easy as it sounds, i have experienced it because every year i go visit my aunt and i stay and help her out for a week.
ReplyDeletewhen i was little i used to visit my grandparents farm in mexico but they mostly were flowers not too many animals were their they only had bulls ships and cow and chickens. i love the way i used to see my grandmother care for her crops and the look in her eyes when she feed my grandfather after working so hard in his farm they would usually have a picnic in the nice grassy part of the farm and talk about all the work they had done during the day. i think life is enjoyed more in the outdoors!
ReplyDeleteI think that living on a farm would be lots of work, having to keep up with those everyday activities sounds complicating. I'm sure after living there and being used to that life style its probably easier than it seems.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's very difficult to own a farm alone, and you have to be very dedicated towards it. I've been on a farm before when I was younger, my aunt & uncle would always have to wake up really early in order to get everything done for the day. But I think it's nice to spend life on a farm besides the work, it's better than being in doors that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a farm, and i dont think that i will ever be able to live in one because i am scared of all kinds of animals. Also, animals poop wherever and if i stop on it accidentally, i do not think that the farm will exist any longer. Even though i would not want to live in one, I believe that farms are very important because they are our main source of food, without food we would not live. It would be much better if the farms in the U.S went organic.
ReplyDeleteI was at a farm before, and i think thats its way too much work for one person to manage.Did you say that that woman in the picture takes care of the farm all by herself?Wow thats work. There were lots of animals on the farm and you have to constantly clean after them AND wake up early to gather whatever food you have to collect from the animals and stuff.I dont know if i could see myself working on a farm.I dont know if i can handle all that responsibility as of now.Farms are important to me anyway because this is where we get our food from that ships to us.
ReplyDeletebeeing in a farm will be stressful boring and anoying.i dont see myself working in a farm because is too much work. Also taking care all type animals is too much is like you a no life because working there you got b on point with crops and animals. Farms are important me because they a major factor in life we get most resources there.
